Enable for Collaboration
Enable for collaboration for your remote workers by utilizing technology that enables for remote workers to regularly communicate with each other and share best practices, share challenges and problem solve with each other. While in an office we can easily go visit our co-workers and interact with them throughout the day; this is not possible for remote workers. Utilize technology to enable for a “connection” with other remote workers; making remote workers feel less alone. Some potential tools to check out include (but certainly not limited to; there are so many more): Microsoft SharePoint®, Evernote’s WorkChat, Workplace by Facebook, Citrix GoToMeeting, Slack, and Google Hangouts.

Establish Best Practices in Communication and Collaboration with Remote Workers
As a manager, you’ll need to have best practices and processes for how remote workers will communicate – with you and with each other. A great activity is to have your remote workers collaborate with you to determine what those best practices and processes will be. This doesn’t mean that you, as the manager, leave all final decision making to the team, but collaborate with them to ensure they have input into how they will communicate. Read more…
